Parents commend Kwara Gov over constant support for exchange programme

Parents Association of Students on Exchange Programme (PASEP) of Government Secondary School (GSS) Ilorin has commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State for being passionate about the welfare of students on Exchange Programme from the State.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman Ahmed Funsho, and Secretary Shehu Gidado, the Association pointed out that the present administration has been consistent about the payment of transport fares of the students since its inception, saying that the gesture is helping the students to enjoy stable and uninterrupted study in their respective schools outside the State.

It said the previous government was not sensitive to the students’ plight, explaining that it owed them arrears of fares to the tune of over N15 million.

“Your Excellency, we wish to place on record that prior to your coming on board, there had been a backlog of unpaid transport fares for our children on the Exchange Programme, spanning about 4 years (over N15 million). But ever since you became the Governor of our dear State in 2019, we have been enjoying (from your government) a steady and timely payment for the affected students who are schooling all over Northern Nigeria. We commend you for this,” the statement said.

“We are keen followers of your style of governance since you assumed office and no doubt you have justified the ‘Otoge mantra’ that birthed this administration. We are also proud of your track record of achievements across key sectors, which clearly manifest that Otoge revolution is not a fluke but a change that is genuinely placing Kwara high in the comity of states in Nigeria.”

The Association then requested the government to look into payment of the four-year arrears of fares and provide them with a coaster bus for smooth runnings of their other activities, among other requests.

It prayed for the success of the administration and pledged their support for realisation of the second-term bid of the Governor in the 2023 general elections.

“For these reasons, you remain our strength and strong pillar of sustaining the programme almost planned for extinction by those administrations before you. May Allah continue to be your stength and compass of life,” the statement added.

Kwara signs minimum wage agreement with Tertiary Institutions’ workers

Kwara State Government on Monday signed agreement with the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council on the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage and consequential adjustment for non-teaching staff at the Colleges of Education, Kwara State Polytechnic and College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS).

The agreement, among other things, set the effective date for the implementation of the new minimum wage covering the concerned workers at the tertiary institutions at 1st Day of July, 2022.

The deal also provided that the government shall in subsequent wage review include the unions at the Tertiary Institutions in the committee for negotiations on behalf of workers and moderate subvention payment process to be flexible to enable payment of workers at the Tertiary Institutions as and when due; and that there shall be no retrenchment of workers as a result of the implementation of the minimum wage.

“We are gathered here to sign the last bit of the N30,000 minimum wage and consequential adjustment for non-teaching staff at the Colleges of Education, Kwara State Polytechnic and College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS). I want to say thank you to these unions for being considerate,” State Head of Service Modupe Oluwole said at the signing of the agreement at the Governor’s Office Ilorin, the capital city.

“This agreement is made this 25th day of July, 2022 between the Kwara State Government and the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JNC) Kwara State Organ, on behalf of Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education Nigeria (SSUCOEN) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), on the implementation of Consolidated Tertiary Education Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS).

“Everyone knows the situation of things today in the country. Many states in the country are finding it very difficult to pay the necessary wages, including Kwara. But His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has made the payment of salaries first line charge to ensure that all salaries are paid as and when due. The governor has promised not to renege on the agreement. So, I think he deserves to be applauded by all.

“Governor AbdulRazaq recognises the fact that workers are key and they need their pay, and he is doing all he can to ensure that workers get paid. Almost everything that comes to the state goes to the payment of salaries. We have states that are counting months of unpaid salaries but the situation is not like that in Kwara State.

“The government appreciates you and we are not taking this lightly. We will continue to do our best to encourage workers. We know some states started paying the minimum wage but could not continue. We thank God for the kind of governor we have in the state.”

State Chairman of NLC Comrade Isa Ore, for his part, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Head of Service and other key stakeholders in the struggle for achieving the feat.

“Today, another landmark achievement was made here in the history of Kwara State. Minimum wage and consequential agreement was signed for the education sector. The workers in Kwara State are known to be patient and we have mutual understanding with the state government. In the next few years, another minimum wage will come on board,” he said.

Chairman Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education Nigeria (SSUCOEN) Comrade Love Adeyemi applauded AbdulRazaq for showing sincere commitment to the welfare of the Kwara workers.

“We just signed agreement on minimum wage and consequential adjustment as it affects workers in Kwara State tertiary institutions. It has been a tortuous journey since 2019 and the government has been very responsive. Each time we raise the issue, the government tries as much as possible to attend to us and made us see reasons why government could not pay since 2019. This year we felt that all other categories of workers have been paid and it is high time we got ours too,” she said.

“We are grateful today that at the end of the day we are able to get to bargaining point. It wasn’t easy. We didn’t get everything we wanted but considering all other factors, we have to show understanding with the state government. The government has shown so much concern and commitment, and we hope that as time goes on the minimum wage will be reviewed.

“We thank His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Head of Service Mrs Modupe Oluwole for being sincere and committed to their words throughout the struggle.”

Other officials at the signing of the agreement included Chairman Public Service Joint Negotiating Council Kwara State Comrade Saliu Suleiman; Director Establishment, Pension and Industrial Relations Alhaji Yusuf Amuda; Secretary Public Service Joint Negotiating Council Comrade Joseph Tunde; Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Justice Alhaji Musa Idris; Permanent Secretary Establishment and Training Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed; NASU Chairman Comrade Adebayo Gegele; and the State Controller of Labour Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment Alhaji Yusuf Raufu.

PDP Insomnia and 2023 General Elections.

Our attention has been drawn to two puerile statements by the rejected Peoples Democratic Party. One of the statements claim that some key members of the administration visited its candidate, Shuaibu Yaman in a bid to join an already drowned party in the state.

We state that this is another falsehood and usual cheap propaganda by a party Kwara has rejected because its deceit and endemic corruption during their reigns.

It is a Known fact that the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, has always publicized the names and photographs of members of the opposition who renounced their party membership to join the APC in the state. We challenge the PDP to give names and photographs of Government appointees who visited their candidate, Shuaibu Yaman , with the aim of joining their hopeless party.

The second statement accused the APC members of destroying PDP billboards. This is another absolute falsehood and a ploy by men of yesterday to attract sympathy from the people of Kwara They are crying wolf where there is none

The administration of Governor AbdulRazaq has no time for such dirty politics as erroneously claimed by the rejected Peoples Democratic Party. His concern is how to ensure the rapid development of the state that every Kwaran will be proud of.

We restate that the people of Kwara can see through the congenital lies and propaganda of the PDP and have also realized the difference between the evil regime of PDP and the exemplary leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The AbdulRazaq administration is not interested in paying evil for evil of the PDP. The public will recall that the PDP government through the State House of Assembly passed a motion urging the National Broadcasting Commission to stop some political programmes on Private Radio Stations in the state but this motion was ignored by the NBC because the PDP government lacked the power to give the commission directives..

Kwarans are now free from the oppressive regime of the PDP and have vowed never to return the party to power.

They can never forget how the wrecked Party dehumanized civil servants and aged retirees at State and Local Governments levels by refusing to pay them salaries, pensions and gratuities for over two years even when the government was receiving huge allocations and bailouts from the Federal Government.

We know that members of the PDP have been having insomnia with the incredible achievements of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in just three years, we assure members of the rejected Party that this ailment will get worse to epileptic seizures or schizophrenia by the end of his second term in office.

Kwarans can see that despite the huge drop in Federal Allocations, their money is now being used to build infrastructure such as roads, factories Schools and hospitals while Social investment Programmes to take care of the youths and elderly are in place.

We restate that the people of Kwara have sworn never to experience the humiliation they were subjected to under the PDP government.

They are not only praying but working to ensure that the corrupt regime of the PDP never returns to power in the State.

Next time you see an Oke Apomu LGEA School – Rafiu Ajakaye

A surreal picture of some children learning on bare floor surfaced this week from Oke Apomu LGEA Primary School in Ilorin West. It is certainly not a good sight. A few weeks ago, an online news platform published a not-too-appealing picture of a school in Asa where children were also seen learning under the tree. Truth is that there are still dozens of such facilities across Kwara State, and this speaks to the mess that public education (indeed Kwara) was in 2019. As uncomfortable as these pictures make us feel as an administration, especially because those posting them are not giving the right background or a tieback, we are not shocked to see such pictures. Such rots pervade(d) every sector, and this administration has never hidden the fact that it will take years of consistent investments to turn things around. As an administration, we _‘own the sheets’_ and we are not dropping the ball.

It is what we have repeatedly spoken about. Remember the recent picture of a basic healthcare facility in Tanke area of Ilorin. In return, and always, the PDP insists that what got them out of office in 2019 was propaganda and that things weren’t as bad as they were made to look. The irony is that the picture of Oke Apomu LGEA school was being promoted by PDP itself. Isn’t God great?

In 2019 when this government was inaugurated, there were dilapidated structures across at least 2,064 basic schools in Kwara: 480 at Junior Secondary School level and 1,584 in Primary Schools. That was the Kwara story. It was a fallout of the next-to-zero investments in basic schools for nearly a generation. History: between 2013 and 2019, Kwara was under an official blacklist of the federal government for diverting funds meant for improving school infrastructures, training of teachers, among others.

What is the new administration doing? Between 2019 and 2022, the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration has renovated, remodelled, constructed and equipped classrooms across 605 basic schools in the state. For every classroom fixed, the administration provided adequate furniture, and erected sanitation facilities in many. This is what the money accessed from UBEC is able to do, along with training of teachers and other activities captured under the work plan. There are beautiful pictures of these schools everywhere!

The public needs to understand that the 2,064 dilapidated schools and hospitals (including Oke Apomu LGEA school) were a legacy of the same individuals in the PDP who are now sharing pictures of schools in shambles. The new administration is only struggling to rebuild what became horribly bad under PDP’s watch.

Here are the things to note: next time you see another dilapidated school or hospital structures, please know that it is the fallout of the PDP years. It is to be noted that the new administration is doing its best to fix these rots, while also investing in other critical needs of the people within available resources. What this means is that these rots will take years to go away. No magic will make them disappear. Only consistent investment will. This is the point the Governor made last December about the depth of the rots. The good news is that this administration is doing a lot in this regard.

Building on the completed or ongoing structures already fixed across 605 locations, the government is currently compiling a list of school structures that require urgent attention for interventions under the 2020/2021 UBEC-SUBEB renewal projects. Oke Apomu and many others will get a facelift. That is how to know a serious government. This is apart from other efforts of the administration to rebrand public education in the state.

If the horrible pictures of dilapidated schools remind Kwarans of the PDP years, what defines the AbdulRazaq administration are the many strides it has made in steadily fixing the rots in just three years. From Ilorin, the capital city, and Ogele (Asa) in the central, to far-flung Patako (Ifelodun), Ipe (Oyun), Koro (Ekiti) communities in Kwara South, and Sabagina in (Edu), Patigi (Patigi), Damu and Yashikira (Baruten), and Kanikoko (Kaiama) in Kwara North, what you see in public schools testifies to the success of AbdulRazaq and his team.

How Governor AbdulRazaq is Reengineering Future of Education with Digitalization

Digitalization in education is the use of computers, mobile devices, the internet, software applications and other types of digital technology to teach students of all ages. It is also the use of advanced educational technology to redefine education norms outside the classroom. It allows education providers and administrators to bridge the gap between digital learning and residential programmes, ultimately democratizing access to education.

Before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, digital learning was an option. Many schools have now realized its importance and incorporated technology as a part of their ecosystem via smart classrooms and other IT channels. But for a world that has witnessed the impact of COVID-19, digital learning is the new normal and the only way to continue imparting knowledge to millions of educational aspirants.

It is, therefore, no surprise that the pandemic has impacted learning methods and teaching practices, redrawing the trajectory of education. Technology has become more than an optional choice for early adopters, as it now enables educators to reimagine and redefine learning norms beyond classroom boundaries.

More so, Covid-19 impact on the education sector has been puzzling. On the one hand, the pandemic has thrown academic systems, conventional teaching practices, learning techniques and processes into disarray. On the other hand, it has emerged as an accelerator for digital learning. Research revealed that by mid-April, 2022, a whopping 94% of learners globally were affected by the pandemic. This represents 1.58 billion youth and children enrolled for pre-primary and higher education across 200 countries. While the pandemic has compelled learners to shift away from classrooms in several parts of the globe, this has, in turn, created opportunities for educational technology to make significant inroads within the conventional learning ecosystem.

In Nigeria, researchers and educationists have sleepless nights in devising ways of mitigating the negative effects of the global health crisis on education sector and all sectors of lives. This had prompted the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Education to approve the closure of all learning institutions. This abrupt closure led to the significant disruptions in the education system in Nigeria, including learning modes, access to school related services, parenting routines and crisis management capacities of the federal and state ministry of education.

In response to this education emergency, the federal and state governments and private sector implemented various learning interventions using technology platforms, internet-based tools and traditional media to mitigate the impact of the closure of schools.

In Kwara State, prior to the outbreak of pandemic, there have been ongoing education reforms geared towards addressing educational imbalances at ensuring that children are given chances to live, to be good and productive citizens, useful to themselves and society in general. It is an all-inclusive education system embarked upon by His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration to ensure access to basic quality and education for all, by effectively meeting their diverse needs in a responsive way and that is how Kwara state government develop and design the schools, classrooms, and programs so that all students can learn and participate in learning effectively.

The first education developmental stride taken by the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in the first year in office was the comprehensive renovation of eight secondary schools and rehabilitation of blocks of classrooms in thirty-five secondary schools across the three Senatorial districts in the state. This was done in order to create conducive environment for teaching and learning and also to reduce out of school children and encourage enrolment of our future leaders.

Besides, in line with the global trends, the present administration introduced a Mass Media Classes for Basic, Junior and senior secondary school students in the state in order to mitigate the effect of the closure of schools due to the Corona virus pandemic.

By this programme, students that sat for 2019/2020 WAEC, NECO, BECE and Common Entrance examinations have the opportunity to sit back at home and watched or listened to lessons by the teachers on television and radio stations as scheduled. The programme was designed in such a way that the resourceful teachers on different subjects brought on radio to teach Basic classes and senior secondary school. The radio and television classes were designed in such a way that students will be allowed to call for questions and clarifications. The opportunity to continue their learning on visual and audio in order to meet up with the syllabus had greatly increased their confidence and also help them to perform better in their external examinations. The mass media class also extended to other classes apart from basic and exit classes that were earlier covered.

As part of the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration’s efforts to reposition the education sector, after the declaration for the reopening of schools by the Federal Government, the present administration continued to device strategies that will mitigate the effect of the covid-19 on educational development and also prepare for future occurrence. Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led government engaged in various developmental projects that reduce out of school children, increase the standard of education and ensure that a similar disruption in the future doesn’t inhibit the meaningful impact of teaching in the state.

Among the strategies designed by the Kwara State Government to actualize the dream of revamping education sector for post Covid-19 was the Kwara Education Futures Summit that was themed “securing and investing in the next generation”. The programme was mapped out towards making high quality education available and accessible for everyone in the state. The outcome of the engagement with public and private sectors, thinkers and education stakeholders in interactive sessions, workshops, talks and exhibitions during the summit have started yielding positive results of standard and quality education delivery that will allow the children to be productive and useful to self and society in general.

The result-oriented education summit produced mass rehabilitation, renovation and refurbishment of more than 600 schools to accommodate out of school children and also providing a conducive environment for learning and teaching in schools.
The Governor also distributed instructional materials worth millions of naira to primary and junior secondary schools in the state. During the distribution of the instructional materials, the governor said the gesture is the third of its kind since the inception of his administration to strengthen public basic education system in Kwara state.

In his words, “this underscores our commitment to give solid foundation that will give our children a chance in life, to be good and productive citizens, useful to themselves and society at large.” He further disclosed the provision of multimillion naira instructional materials is to ease access to qualitative basic education and also to enhance teaching and learning”.

The Chairman of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Professor AbdulRaheem Adaramaja acknowledged that, “the gesture was part of the gains of the present administration’s commitment to the development of the basic education through the payment of counterpart funds to Universal Basic Education Commission, Abuja.

Adaramaja commended the good initiative of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in revamping the education sector for the benefit of our future leaders. He said, “What we are witnessing today is part of the gains of our robust relationship with UBEC in the past few years. It wasn’t like this before the advent of this administration. Kwara State was neglected and nobody thought of us, our classrooms were dilapidated, we had no instructional materials, and teachers were using exercise books as attendance registers.”

The state government did not limit the distribution of instructional materials to basic and junior classes, instructional materials, furniture and standard research laboratories were also provided for senior secondary schools through the Teaching Service Commission. All these gestures were part of government efforts to moderate the effects of Covid-19 on educational development and also reduce out of school children in the state.

Not only that, the government also recruited 4,700 qualified and brilliant teachers at SUBEB and Teaching Service Commission to increase standard of teaching and learning in our schools. The process for the recruitment was purely on merit and the institutional training was given to the successful ones for effective and efficient performance in the classrooms.

It is equally instructive to note that the Governor took a further step to partner with UNESCO and other organization to embark on rigorous training of teachers for them to meet up with the required standard of impacting quality teachings.

The gesture prompted the Sector Secretary for Social and Human Sciences Section of the National Commission for UNESCO, Mrs Grace Ajayi to commend Mallam AbdulRazaq’s initiatives on educational development in the state during official visit to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.

Apart from commending the education reform, infrastructural development, training and retraining of teachers by the present administration she also acknowledged that teachers from Kwara State have the highest number of participants and also performed excellently in various training and workshops organized by the UNESCO for capacity building and effective performance in teaching.

Without any doubt, Kwara succeeded in raising the bar of education standards in the state through digitization of teaching and learning tagged “KwaraLEARN” as it was adopted during the pandemic so it has come to stay in Kwara state education sector, the development that has recorded dramatic improvements in learning outcomes for public school children across the state. KwaraLEARN programme is accelerating the literacy and numeracy skills of Kwara pupils, it has equally enables them to compete favorably with their peers globally. Basically, the programme is rapidly transforming all government public primary schools using innovative technology, data-driven platforms, high-quality learning materials, effective training and ongoing coaching and support for teachers and learners.

Speaking at the official signing of Memorandum of Understanding for the KwaraLEARN programme, the Governor said, “Since inception of this administration, the government had spent heavily on funding basic education in order to launch Kwara back to national reckoning — seven years after the state was blacklisted for the looting of the UBEC funds in 2013 by the former administration.

The Governor added that, “Introduction of KwaraLEARN came after the administration had stabilized the system, adding that the programme will give the Kwara children access to 21st century digital education in a sustainable way.”

While commending the landmark achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on education development in the state, the honorable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu said, “The huge investment committed by the present administration in education sector cannot be overemphasized”, she noted that, “The digital technology projects to schools will definitely complement the earlier investments in infrastructural development, the transparency and competitiveness nature of the recruitment of exceptional teachers to classrooms as well as training and retraining of teachers for effective performance in the class is second to none in the state.”

She therefore implored the stakeholders to embrace KwaraLEARN programme, in order to improve the quality and standard of education in the state, and most importantly, secure the future of our children.

In his quest to sustain the gains of KWARALEARN, the Governor has taken a step further by employing the service of the international technical support partner with a record of a large scale education transformation successes already recorded in other states in Nigeria such as: Lagos and Edo States. The technical partners are supporting the State Universal Basic Education board to implement KwaraLEARN, this support includes the training of 68 enumerators on baseline assessment to monitor progress in literacy and numeracy, as well as non-learning indicators like teacher instructional and head-teachers in management practices. The baseline assessment examines differences in school management, teacher practice, and pupil growth for firsthand information before the full takeover by KwaraLEARN.

The baseline assessment which was done in the first quarter of this year, is expected to provide rich performance and contextual data that can be used for comparison with subsequent follow-up studies after the introduction of the KwaraLEARN programme as well as allows KwaraLEARN, Kwara SUBEB, and other stakeholders to understand and highlight the progress achieved through the KwaraLEARN programme.

Hence, the present administration has roll out the first phase of its administration’s flagship education transformative programme : Kwara Leading Education Achievement and Reform, tagged: KwaraLEARN in 4 local government comprises Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Offa and Baruteen local government respectively, with the four weeks training of 3,500 teachers on the use of new digital technology and modern teaching techniques that will enhance effective and efficient teaching and learning and also improve performance of pupils in the class. The selected teachers and head teachers cut across the first four local government selected to pilot KwaraLEARN.

KwaraLEARN commenced operation immediately after the completion of training of 1920 teachers and distribution of Tablets and Accessories to them for effective teaching and learning in the class. Majority of trained Teachers have started using Tablets to teach pupils in 365 public primary schools that cut across four local government such as: Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Offa and Baruteen local government respectively. The programme will continue to feature four local government each in every year to make it 16 local government that will be on board for the KwaraLEARN before the end of 2025.
Presently, the education digitalization in the state has started yielding fruitful results with the level of compliance rate. More than 40,000 thousand pupils has been registered and their attendance is highly encouraging. Also 87% of Teachers that has been incorporated into KwaraLEARN has been coming to school regularly and also performing their duties effectively and efficiently. School monitoring and report summary are very accessible for education stakeholders in the state.
KwaraLEARN initiative is a lifetime investment in education to empower teachers and give public school pupils the best shot at 21st century education with reverberating effects on the future of the state.
To be candid, ahead is a new era of better learning and improved learning outcomes for students across the Kwara State. It is our responsibility to support the present administration for the second term for it to continue this laudable programme in education and others life touching projects and programme the administration has embarked upon. It is believed that with this colossal development, Kwara State will regain its lost glory and also be a pace-setter among her peers in the country.

Kwara Gov deserves a new mandate: Emir of Ilorin

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has shown enough commitments to public welfare and development to deserve a new mandate, Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari (CFR) said on Monday.

Speaking during the yearly _Bareke_ (traditional homage) at Government House in Ilorin, the Emir said the achievements of the administration are visible while the Governor’s hands-on approach to governance is commendable.

“I have seen that Your Excellency is performing, and you are ready to work more to better the lots of Kwarans. You have just started. It is my wish and prayer that you are given another mandate to achieve more,” the Emir said, praying Allah to grant the Governor more strength, good health and required wisdom to fulfil his dreams for the state.

“This will get better in the coming years as we ramp up investments in tourism and culture,” he added.

It would be recalled that a Nigerian driver, who has been under critical care and observation in Edu Local Government, was later confirmed positive of Monkey pox after a laboratory test conducted on the index case.

Governor AbdulRazaq is making History and PDP Candidate, Shuaibu Yaman is Hysteric!

PRESS STATEMENT

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is working ascidously to make Kwara a state of our dreams while the Peoples Democratic Party’s wannabe , Shuaibu Yaman is hysteric.

In his rabid quest for power, Yaman continued his thoughtless and unsubstantiated claims about the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq.

We note that Yaman took to attack our exemplary and exceptional Governor knowing fully well that he has nothing but bringadage and looting to show from the 16 years of PDP he has chosen to sink with.

We make bold to say that Governor AbdulRazaq remains transparent and accountable to the people of Kwara in all projects embarked upon by his administration.

We restate that unlike the 16 inglorious years of the looters, Governor AbdulRazaq has executed projects that touched lives across the state.

For the record, Elite Network for Sustainable Development ( ENetSuD) has cleared the Government of allegation of any wrong doing on the Baruten road for which Yaman is making mountain out of a molehill.

It is important to inform the general public that the contract for the Baruten road was increased three times under the PDP administration with the same specification as follows: January 2015, N2,156,953,404.88; April 2017, N2,361,904,549.71; and May 15, 2019, 2,782,716,900.95.

The total amount paid to the contractor as of May 29, 2019 was N1,848,129,346.47 (66.4%). That left a balance of N934,587,553.50 to be paid to the contractor. Similarly, the percentage of work done on site as at May 29, 2019 was 21% of surface dressing work, which equalled 4.6km of the 33km road.

The administration of Governor AbdulRazaq upon appeals from the communities affected, revised the contract with additional N265,412,446.50 to upgrade it to asphalt finish. That brought the total contract sums to N3,048,129,347.45. Today, 22km of the road has been laid with asphalt, while the earthwork is up to 29km, with hydraulic structures totally completed. As of the time of writing this, the road is 71% completed.

It is important to put the issues in proper perspective for the record and posterity.

In the last five months, the statutory allocation has been much less than what the PDP administration was getting because NNPC has not been making payments to the Federation Account. PDP could not pay N 18,000 minimum wage but despite lower allocation, this administration has been paying N 30000 minimum wage.

This is an indication that the IGR and dwindled Allocations have been much better managed by the AbdulRazaq’s administration than the PDP which turned the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service to an Automatic Teller Machine for its leaders who squandered the state resources for 16 years.

The PDP candidate in his mischief, claims that the administration has done nothing with the bond secured for infrastructure development. The people of Kwara are not unaware of the good work of the Governor in provision of projects that impact lives and create jobs for the teeming youths.

It is shameful for PDP to have run short of ideas to criticize the government with its repeated lies that money is missing from the Local Governments. We restate that there is no money to steal at the local governments .

Rather, it is the state government that has been augmenting their allocations to meet their financial obligations.

We sympathize with Yaman for he is already a drowned man clinging to whatever he can find to come afloat following the capsized ship of the PDP.

We have no doubt that the people of Kwara can see through the deception of the PDP.

We urge Yaman to get serious and tell us all about his plans for the State if he has any, otherwise he will be stuck with the notorious appellation of “yakking”.

No matter the buffoonery ,propaganda and bare faced lies of Shuaibu Yaman, Kwara will never go back to the era of looting, unemployment, lack of promotion in the civil service, unpaid Salaries for civil servants, unpaid pensions and gratuities for retirees, neglect of health care delivery among others.

Never again!

Signed:
